This puzzle can be solved with one small step and singles...

You can also solve it like this:

  	  | Code: | | |---------------------|-----------------|-----------------------| | 489    45679  45679 | 1     2    3    | 56789   789     568   |

 | 1389   15679  2     | 689   67   789  | 4       13789   3568  |
 |---------------------|-----------------|-----------------------|
 | 6      3      14    | 8-2   147  2478 | 28      5       9     |
 | 5      2      19    | 3689  136  89   | 38      4       7     |
 | 7      8      49    |(23)9  5   (2)49 |(23)     6       1     |
 |---------------------|-----------------|-----------------------|
 | 2349   45679  8     |(23)   34   24   | 1       2379    23456 |
 | 12349  1459   13459 | 7     8    6    | 2359    239     2345  |
 | 234    467    3467  | 5     9    1    | 23678   2378    23468 |

It's me who usually need help with that!
I tried to hide my ignorance by showing my solution in the grid only...

				| arkietech Yes.
All m-wings have the same simple 4-term structure :
 (b=a)-a=(a-b)=b :=> elims b
 where
 - first term (b=a) is a bivalue
 - third term (a-b) is an augmented bivalue ie cell containing at a minimum the bivalue ab
 - other two terms (-a) and (b) may lie across grouped cells.

If you have the structure, you have an m-wing.
if you have an m-wing, you have the structure.

That said, the status of m-wings as patterns is to my way of thinking somewhat borderline in the sense that there is no shorthand (so far as I can see) to describe them. Thus I can refer to a fish succinctly, or to a UP, or to DL-ALS, etc. But for an m-wing, I have to write the whole thing out, which somewhat defeats the purpose of having named it.

				| I gave up a long time ago assigning names to any pattern beyond VH & VH+ patterns as defined by Danny when he was posting puzzles.
 For this puzzle, I used a simple w-wing(23)r6c7/r7c4 SL(2)r4c47; r6c4<>3.
