This has me completely stymied. Can't do a thing save for one ER.

I was trying for an ALS with the marked cells.

I couldn't get one but did notice that watching those cells and trying out what happens when either is set to 8 you see that r3 box 3 has the only 2s. This is a one stepper but I think it is just a lucky find. ( for me it was ) Very Happy

Thanks. That does seem to confirm that I wasn't going to solve it with the moves that I have in the arsenal.

why both 4 and 8?
because if you only used the part in red, then the 4 would be eliminated.
using the entire chain eliminates both.
