In a shocking development, I didn't find a Sashimi (is there a worse technique name?).

Yes! I'd say "Purple Cow" takes the cake.

999_Springs once named a certain wing "I Never Saw a Purple Cow I Hope I Never See One; But I Can Tell You Anyhow I'd Rather See One Than Be One."

The name was shortened to "Purple Cow" and believe it or not, it stuck! (among a certain crowd...) I think 999 Springs was joking, but with him one could never be certain...

According to Wikipedia, the ditty is from a well known 1895 poem by poet and humorist Gelett Burgess.

 "Purple Cow"???

 Edit: 999 not 99

 I like it
then we could have an "almost purple cow with extension" APCE
I would rather have a purple steak than raw fish.

				| Nishio and Death Blossom ought to be in the discussion. As should Swordfish, Jellyfish and Squirmbag. Probably could name others as well if Sudopedia was accessible. | |

I really don't mind the names. They are a way of communication.

I suppose you could petition ISO and create a standards committee to standardize the names:

 0-fish: naked single
 1-fish: strong link
 2-fish: X-wing
 3-fish: swordfish
 4-fish: jellyfish
 etc.

Like with the metric system, it will probably still not be resolved after hundreds of years.

 Keith

(Edited to change "solved cell" to "naked single".)

				| It's interesting how few technique names are eponymous, i.e., named after the developer ala "Sue de Coq." Surprising, in that some of our founding fathers had, shall we say, a healthy sense of self worth.
Personally, I am highly PO'd that my naming of the Blue Blood Bug never swept into general use
